Biography

 

Ferdinando De Sena is a Miami composer, born in Brooklyn, NY.

Fred is a Parma Recording artist whose CD “Spalding’s Bounce” was released August 15, 2016. His music has also been released by artists on Albany Records and American Modern. 
He teaches composition and electronic music at the New World School of the Arts, He served on the faculty of the University of Miami from 1992 – 2009, and was Director of the Electronic Music Studio.

Students of Doctor DeSena have gone on to study at such institutions as Juilliard, Eastman, Northwestern, Brandeis, NYU, Cal Arts, Peabody, Mannes, Manhattan, Rice, Royal College of Music (London), University of London, Wesleyan, and Florida International.

Fred DeSena’s music has been performed throughout the continental U.S., in Puerto Rico, Hawaii, Argentina, Italy, Ireland, and Scotland. He has also had music performed at international, national, and regional conferences of the College Music Society, the Society of Composers, Inc., the International Computer Music Conference, the Society for Electroacoustic Music in the United States, and the International Double Reed Society, as well and many other festival, theatrical, and concert venues.

Fred De Sena earned a B.A in Computer Music at Ithaca College, a Masters in Electronic Music and a D.M.A. in Composition at the University of Miami. His principle teachers were Dennis Kam, Peter Rothbart, and Don Wilson.
